Our year 4 pupils blew parents away this afternoon with a musical extravaganza – the culmination of five weeks hard work learning a range of musical skills for different instruments. Inspirational!

Chinese New Year started with a bang last week as pupils took part in a fantastic dragon dance! Celebrations continue this week with a theatre company performance.

Year 4 pupils kick-started the new term getting to know their new musical instruments as they started work with the Bromley Youth Music Trust’s ‘Band on the Run’ initiative – watch this space for further updates!

Following on from fantastic performances earlier this week, Years 3,4, 5 and 6 wowed parents with a stunning concert around the Christmas tree in the playground after school yesterday.

A superb performance to parents by pupils from years 1-6 at the end of term DanceFuzion Show – brilliant, choreographed dance moves!

Thank you from the HPACR School Council for a brilliant response to their appeal for old clothes & shoes to support the Salvation Army’s Recycle with Michael initiative: promoting recycling, raising money for charity and our academy!

Use your recycling bag to bring any unwanted clothes and shoes to school by tomorrow and help us to; Promote Recycling, Raise money for the Salvation Army charity and Raise money for our academy.

Yesterday, we kicked off our new inter-house competition with the Year 4's competing in a tag rugby competition. The children really enjoyed themselves. The Year 5 and 6's will be competing today and tomorrow.

We're working with Christmas Forest to promote their ongoing partnership with Tree Aid. Trees are planted in the drylands of Africa, helping provide a livelihood to some of the poorest communities on earth - over the last 12 years they have helped to grow 232,275 trees.

Year 6 classes enjoyed a chilly outing to Crystal Palace Park to learn about the history of the Great Exhibition. Pupils kept warm by using bamboo to create the structure of the original building and learning all about the Victorian Empire.

We raised over £300 for this year’s Children in Need campaign – THANK YOU for you support!

Congratulations to our Y5&6 Boys’ Football Squad who continue to represent the academy well and are celebrating a 3-match winning streak!

Huge congratulations to our newly elected Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl. You will do an exceptional job representing our academy in your new position of responsibility. Well done!

A working breakfast for our year 5 and 6 Play Leaders this morning – generating lots of ideas for new games in our playground! # HPACYP

“History is who we are and why we are the way we are”
David McCullough

What is the intention of the KS1 and KS2 History Curriculum?

History inspires pupils’ curiosity to know more about Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Knowledge of Britain’s past can help pupils to understand the challenges of our own time. It engages pupils in questions about people and events in the past and helps pupils to understand the present and prepare them for the future.

History explores culture, beliefs and values that help pupils to develop an understanding of themselves and others; pupils learn about similarities, differences and diversity and how we live in an interdependent global world.

The programme of study for history states that ‘History helps pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.’
