Welcome to Nursery class! We hope you find the information below useful as your child starts their nursery education with us. This information will help you support your child at home with the organisation of their week and their learning at home.

In nursery class, our families are invited to share their home learning by uploading photographs & videos to Evidence Me. We are always happy to loan books to read at home with your child. Reading to your child regularly will develop their attention & listening skills as well as their vocabulary & understanding of the world. |

The nursery school gates open at 8:30 in the morning. The gate will be locked at 8.40. The children going home at lunchtime are collected from the nursery door at 11:30, please be there to collect them promptly. The nursery school gates open at 12:30 in the afternoon for children who attend afternoon sessions. All children are collected from the nursery door in the afternoon. The gates are open by 3:30. |
What are we learning?
This term’s topic is, ‘Marvellous Me’
As the children settle into Nursery we will explore & celebrate all of the things that make them ‘Marvellous!’. We will explore the children’s qualities and interests and celebrate their families and their heritage.
We will be exploring our outdoor learning area daily.
Please bring in a named pair of wellington boots to keep at school and provide your child with a waterproof hooded coat to wear outside. School shoes are also needed to wear indoors.
Our topic books this term include: What I like about me, Only one you, The great big book of families & Hey you!
How can I help at home?
One of the key ways every parent can help is to ensure that your child is at school every day and on time. We also encourage the nursery children to be independent when changing shoes – Velcro fastenings enable this, and putting on coats for outdoor learning, please support them at home with their dressing skills. Other than this, the main way you can help is by making time to read stories and enjoy songs and rhymes every day at home. It is the most effective way of ensuring that your child makes progress in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Our outdoor learning and gardens are open every day. Please remember a named waterproof coat as we are outside in all weathers exploring the world around us as much as we can. In hot weather please provide a sun hat and apply sunscreen before school.
Throughout the school year, you will be able to contribute to your child’s learning journal via Parent Share. You are able to upload photographs and videos of the experiences & learning which takes place at home.
